On Saturday, 13th June 2015, 15 cadets from 471 Squadron attended Tarleton Walking Day, and two cadets attended Penwortham Gala.
Tonight was the Annual General Meeting (AGM), meaning a review of the year took place. Every year, the committee chairwoman, Mrs Ashcroft, goes through the year with cadets, parents and the committee in attendance, as well as Squadron Leader Entwistle. After the AGM, the Squadron Leader and our squadron commander – Warrant Officer Ashcroft – had a few awards to give out!
Today, eleven cadets from 471 Squadron took part in a bag pack, fundraising for Cadet Sergeant Ball & Cadet Corporal Sherrington’s expedition to the Pyrenees and for new computers on the squadron, and you can find a few photos from the day, taken by Cadet Corporal Pym (during his break) on our Facebook page! Tonight was our squadrons Annual Formal Inspection, or AFI, in which our Wing Commander (for Cumbria & Lancashire) and our Sector’s Squadron Leader review what our squadron has done over the year and rates the squadron out of 7. They also sit in with the Civilian Committee, and walk around the squadron, asking all the cadets about their time in the Air Training Corps and the squadron. On the final parade (at the end of the night), the Squadron Leader revealed we had scored a remarkable 6/7, which means we have very high standards!
