On Friday, several of the newer cadets from the squadron attended their first camp with the air cadets! The camp, First Class Development, is to help newer cadets improve the knowledge needed throughout their first class classification, including initial expedition training, map reading, the history of the RAF and the history of the ATC. I caught up with Cadet Sherrington, who told me about what she, and the other cadets, did on the camp.
Friday – On Friday, we drove up to Halton TC (in Lancaster), and when we got there we had a briefing from the squadron leader. After the briefing, we went to our dorms, and got to bed.
Saturday – After breakfast, we did shooting training on the Number 8 (.22) rifle, before having several lessons, like first aid. Then, we did some drill on the drill square. After this, we did the night ex – which was great!
Sunday – On Sunday, we ‘de-constructed’ tents, did initial expedition training (IET) with Warrant Officer Ashcroft and did the obstacle course!
