Tonight was the Annual General Meeting (AGM), meaning a review of the year took place. Every year, the committee chairwoman, Mrs Ashcroft, goes through the year with cadets, parents and the committee in attendance, as well as Squadron Leader Entwistle. After the AGM, the Squadron Leader and our squadron commander – Warrant Officer Ashcroft – had a few awards to give out!
First of all, sports awards from 2014 and the start of 2015 were given out, namely to Cadet Gillions for Cross Country, Cadet Sherrington for Cross Country, Cadet Corporal Sherrington for Cross Country and Junior Football, Cadet Corporal Greenwood for Junior Football, Cadet Corporal Pym for Junior Football, Cadet Corporal Markey for Netball and Cadet Corporal Cookson for Netball. We hope the cadets will be wearing them with pride for the Inter-Squadron Athletics competition on Sunday!
After that, Cadets Gillions, Mackey, Sherrington, Trafford, Greenwood T & Abram were all individually awarded with their First Class badges and certificates. First Class is the first classification, which includes needed to pass sections on the Royal Air Force, map reading, initial expedition training, history of flight and airmanship.
